Kenneth Spond tells us about the 2016 Evansville Design Group (EDG) Competition. Deadline for entry is September 30, 2016. This is the 5th annual EDG awards and will be held on October 21, 2016. We talk about some favorite design work that can be seen around town, some EDG initiatives to help non-profits, what principles good design will follow, and what tools he uses for design work.
Brian Buxton and Randy Notter discuss the inaugural Evansville Restaurant Week (Sept 12-18, 2016), the VIP Kickoff Dinner (Sept 11, 2016, 6-9pm). The VIP Kickoff event, held at Walton’s International Comfort Food down on Haynie’s Corner, features seven chefs from the Evansville area teaming up to create a unique meal. Seventeen participating restaurant’s in Evansville Restaurant Week will offer special menus only available during the event week. Randy discusses his involvement with restaurant weeks in other cities in which he has been involved. Brian also discusses some hidden gems in the Evansville area and his passion for food. Public funding cannot support all of the programs and activities that the EVSC does. That is why the non-profit EVSC Foundation exists. Brian Hancock, EVSC Foundation Board of Directors President, talks about the upcoming rebranding of the Foundation and what the EVSC Foundation does for the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation to help fill in the gaps that the public funding does not cover.
